It’s probably a little ambitious of me to want to wear a dress in early March when it was just raining last week. But I always reach a point this time of year when I’m ready to pull my dresses back out, even if the weather hasn’t fully caught up yet. This felt like the perfect early spring dress outfit to ease into the season.

To make it work, I layered a pointelle cardigan underneath and added a cropped trench on top for extra warmth. I don’t live somewhere that gets snow, but being near the coast means cool mornings and occasionally windy days. Layers really do make all the difference when you’re putting together a spring outfit for unpredictable weather.

This look feels slightly more polished than the other spring outfit ideas I’ve shared so far. The midi dress is simple and easy, something that can stand on its own but also works as a base. The cardigan softens everything, and the trench adds just enough structure without feeling heavy. It’s a layered spring outfit that still feels feminine and chic.

I kept the rest classic and minimal. Black woven flats, a structured leather tote, and small gold hoops. It’s comfortable enough to wear all day, but still feels a little dressed up in the best way.

An early spring dress outfit that can be dressed up or down. Light layers, darker tones, and pieces that move easily from cloudy mornings to clearer afternoons.
